The invention discloses a method for producing a lightweight heat-insulating board by potato or potato residue, waste plant fiber and polystyrene foam, comprising the following steps of: uniformly mixing the cooked potato or potato residue and waste plant fiber power and waste polystyrene foam and placing the mixture into a die; and forming, polishing, demoulding and drying to obtain the lightweight heat-insulating board. The lightweight heat-insulating board has the characteristics of light weight, no toxicity, low cost and simple production process and facilitates the waste recycling and environmental protection and can be widely applied to the fields of construction, decoration, package and the like.
